About IRIFM
Indian Railways Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM), Secunderabad is a
Centralized Training Institute (CTI) under the Ministry of Railways.
IRIFM was envisioned in the Budget Speech of 2013-14 as an exclusive Centralized Training Institute for the officers of Indian Railways responsible for management of finance and accounts, with an aim to provide structured and professional training in contemporary areas to enable them to face emerging challenges and tap opportunities for strengthening the finances of the organization.
A land parcel of 15 acres at Moula Ali was earmarked for the Institute. The Foundation Stone was laid on 3 rd June 2013 by the then Financial Commissioner, Railway Board. The building plan was conceptualized by the acclaimed Mumbai based Architect M/s. Hafeez Contractor and executed by RVNL. It is a modern construction that exemplifies functional and aesthetic qualities. The entire structure traverses seamlessly through dense thicket.
This dedicated Institute to impart focused training to the officers belonging to Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) was commissioned in 2019. The original mandate encompassed initial training of Probationers, mandatory mid-term professional courses for officers completing 6 to 8 and 10 years of service, short-term courses relating to finance and accounts for probationary officers of other services, training of Group ‘B’ officers, conducting symposium and workshops on topics related to Finance and Governance.
With the merger of all Railway services and introduction of a single uniform cadre of IRMS in 2021, IRIFM has diversified its mandate to impart more broad-based training to probationary officers of IRMS and IRHS; executives from Railway Public Sector Undertakings, like IRCTC, CONCOR; officers of the Railway Board Secretarial Service (RBSS), foundation and induction courses; and other mid-career courses for officers of finance as well as other departments.
The institute has two campuses. Campus-I is a fifteen-acre lush green and serene campus with five modern class rooms, a spacious auditorium, residential accommodation with all amenities to cater to eighty Trainee Officers. The training experience here is ideal for creating a lasting camaraderie.
Campus-II (erstwhile Centralized Training Academy for Railway Accounts [C-TARA] that was established in 2005 and subsumed under IRIFM in the year 2020) caters to the training of Group B officers and the non-Gazetted cadre of Indian Railways. It has three lecture halls, a conference room, an auditorium, sports facilities, and hostel accommodation for fifty trainees.
The Institute has been rising up to the new challenges and consistently striving to enhance the competencies and skills of Railway Officers by upgrading training standards and achieving excellence in all courses.
