Director's Message

Indian Railways Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM) was envisioned as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ by the stalwarts of our Service, to impart training and to update knowledge and skill sets of the officers belonging to Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS).

With technological advancement and a marked shift to working on digital platform, the role of robust finance management and accounting practices has become ever more pivotal. The Institute strives to remain steadfast in its vision to excel in financial education and training.

Over time, the training needs have evolved and in recent times, the Institute has been conducting multi-disciplinary modules on array of subjects in its two campuses.

I have taken over the charge of Director General at a time when some of the mandatory / important training programmes are being shifted from National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR), Vadodara to other Centralized Training Institutes (CTIs). We are geared to adapt to the challenges of fulfilling the diverse training needs of all railway men, equipping them with the skill-sets required to play active role in the journey of ‘Viksit Bharat’.

We stand committed to streamline and improvise the content, continue to engage professional faculty, eminent experts in diverse fields and to promote learning of highest calibre, living up to our motto of ‘inspiring excellence’.

It has been our endeavour to organize specialized courses in finance, HR and Health matters at regular intervals, which benefits the Finance and HR Managers of Indian Railways and develops the administrative acumen of Medical officers. At the same time, we organize customized need-based courses for Railway PSUs and Management Programme for Mid-level and Senior Managers of Indian Railways.

With IRIFM having been nominated the nodal CTI for IRMS (Accounts), IRMS (Personnel) and IRHS, the need for outcome-based training to devise and organize training programmes for all three services which fulfil the professional requirements and expectations of the organization will be a challenge. The Institute stands committed to giving the domain-specific training in addition to developing the behavioural and functional competency of the trainee officers.

I look forward to lead the team at IRIFM in this journey.
